Example System.

 

1. Company A manufactures expensive equipment items which are distributed by Company B

2. Company A manufactures the items in batches - these are shipped to Company B who stores them  & prepares them for export. When shipped from A to B Company A’s computer sends a list of serial numbers and specifications to Company B’s computer.

3. When the items arrive at Company B the staff there scan each item - the intelligent bar code terminal cross checks with the main computer to identify any missing items or any that have been shipped in error. On completing the check a confirmation of receipt is automatically sent back to Company A’s computer. Any shipment damage can also be logged on the hand held terminal.

4. Using a secure web-site Company A (or it’s overseas agents) can query the stock held by company B and select items for overseas shipment. Confirmation of shipment pending and shipment complete is again automatically sent to company A .

5. On loading items for outward shipment the loader scans each item barcode - the intelligent portable terminal checks the loading against the shipment manifest and warns operators of any mis-selection.

 

This system combines simplicity of operation on the factory floor with a high degree of control that reduces shipment errors thus saving costs. In addition management has real time updates allowing them to deal quickly and efficiently with any anomalies and to have accurate up to date reporting.
